Bowman questions PF on selection of MCC candidates
ONLY people who are ready to sacrifice their lives should be included in the top leadership of the party because we are dealing with a vicious dictatorship, Bowman Lusambo, has advised the Patriotic Front (PF) leadership.
Mr Lusambo said party leadership should be mindful that strong characters were needed when faced with dictatorship and filling party vacancies should not be like decorating something.
He was referring to the recent appointments to the party’s Members of the Central Committee.
He suggested that more people be included such as Zambia’s former Ambassador to Ethiopia, Emmanuel Mwamba, Mutotwe Kafwaya, former Information minister, Chishimba Kambwili and Mutotwe Kafwaya among others.
“These are people who are supposed to be put into the Central Committee because they are more deserving unlike those appointments handed out as if they are decorations,” the Kabushi Member of Parliament said.
Mr Lusambo said in an interview that the Central Committee was not an ordinary committee where you put people who cannot bring anything to the table, who are just decorations to the party.
‘’We put people who can bring substance to the table, and those who can mobilize and convince the electorates out there like Mr Mwamba, Mr Kafwaya and Mr Kambwili, these are able men who can work hard for the party,’’ he said.
He said they needed to put people who are known and can be sent into provinces to campaign and meet constituencies not those who are not known.
He emphasized that the party did not need people just for decorations but those who can work hard and are able to campaign for the party and those who can bring something to the table.
“We are not blaming anyone, we just want you to know that we are in a very difficult situation and faced with a brutal regime where we need people who can offer themselves and make sacrifices.
Mr Lusambo said the committee needed people who could sacrifice for the party and could go out there to serve the party and the people of Zambia.
