Chile One relative fumes after cadres celebrate his death

- By ROGERS KALERO

IT is inhuman and morally wrong for any one to celebrate the death of any individual and call him all sorts of names regardless of how the relationship was, Kelvin Tembo, a family spokesperson for the late renowned Kitwe Businessman Richard Chileshe Mbulu popularly known as 'Chile One, has said.

Tembo said the family was devastated that, after the death of Mr Mbulu, some people from a certain political party went into a frenzy of celebrations on social media and started calling Mr Mbulu , a criminal.

In an interview at the funeral house at 26 Ngozi street in Riverside residential area in Kitwe, Mr Tembo said, in Zambian culture, no right thinking person will celebrate the death of some one, but instead people put their differences aside and mourn together.

"As a family, we are not forcing any one to mourn with us, but we were shocked that some political party cadres could celebrate the death of Mr Mbulu. We were wondering what kind of society is Zambia degenerating into where people could celebrate the death of some one.

"Apart from celebrating his death, the political party cadres called him all sorts of names on social media. Is this the society we want to have? Death is for everyone. You laugh at us and our relative today, you will also feel how devastated it feels when you lose a loved one and people call him all sorts of names,'' Mr Tembo said.

'Chile One ' was allegedly shot dead by his wife Annie Monta in the early hours of Saturday after the two picked up a quarrel. Copperbelt Police Commissioner Sharon Cheelo Zulu confirmed the incident and said, a Pistol 9mm Taurus by Make and Silver in colour with a serial number THR 43651 was used in the shooting of Mr Chileshe.
