Chongwe UPND gives DAO ultimatum

- By JOHN KOMBE

THE UPND in Chongwe have vowed to hound out the District Administrative Officer (DAO), Father Lawrence Chibwe if he does not vacate the office by tomorrow, accusing him of working against the government.

The DAO has come under fire after the Member of Parliament, Ms Sylvia Masebo described the Labour Day event held in Chongwe as a disaster.

The party officials who have blamed the DAO for what they describe as a poorly organised public event have given him up to tomorrow to vacate the office.

In a post on one of the UPND WhatsApp groups, the Chongwe media team reported that they were not happy with the conduct of the DAO and want him out at all cost.

“The question therefore is when are we going to act to ensure that the person or people in the mix of the many failures are put where they belong?

“We are not against the DAO, but his deeds are a sabotage to the UPND agenda and cannot be condoned.

UPND district youth chairman, Robert Mubanga alleged that the DAO who was handpicked by the former district commissioner was clearly working against the government of the day and was on a mission to make its programmes fail.

He claimed that the DAO had instituted a team which was helping him achieve his agenda. He therefore warned that the UPND would not take kindly to such manoeuvres.

Mr Mubanga claimed that this was further confirmed by the findings in an evaluation meeting held in the mayor’s parlour where heads of government departments convened to look at the reason for the failed Labour Day event.

He claimed that the district commissioner, Elias Lupiya and the Mayor, Christopher Habeenzu had blamed the DAO for not consulting or engaging them on government programmes.
