MTN partners with WWF to create sustainable energy
A GREEN Economy Innova tion Challenge meant to cre ate opportunities for young entrepreneurs deliver sus tainable energy, food water and infrastructure has been unveiled.
This has been launched following a partnership be tween MTN Zambia Foun dation and WWF Zambia with intent to focus on Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMES) and youth-led projects.
The Innovation Challenge dubbed “Inno Challeng es” further aims to stimu late awareness and attitude change needed to arrest the environmental crisis the country was facing.
The challenge would be open to individuals with an early stage idea solutions to the challenges presented.
WWF Zambia country di rector Nachilala Nkombo indicated that the Inno Chal lenge provides a unique plat form to harness the ingenu ity and energy of the coun try’s entrepreneurial youth population to find solutions to environmental crisis.
Ms Nkombo indicated that the Inno Challenge would create opportunities for en trepreneurs to lead the im plementation of the much needed solutions to deliver sustainable energy, food, wa ter and infrastructure.
“We believe that working together, we can convert our sustainability and cli
mate change challenges into opportunities to build our country’s green economy and regulate the rapid loss of our natural capital,” she said.
Ms Nkombo said they would strive to promote in novation as it believes in the need to add some new solu tions to stop the environ mental crisis.
Speaking earlier, MTN Zambia Chief Executive Of ficer, Bart Hofker, explained that the Foundation was formed to promote social corporate investments and giving back to the communities.
Mr Hofker indicated that the partnership between MTN Zambia and WWF would cement the strong re lationship between the two organisations to promote innovation among the young entrepreneurs.
