Kabimba should be a principled politician
ECONOMIC Front president Wynter Kabimba was the guest on Diamond TV edition of the Costa show on Sunday (May 1, 2022).
Though the theme was constitutionalism in Zambia, almost 70 percent of the programme focused on socio-economic issues including the cost of living, the anticipated IMF bailout and energy security.
Someone with no background on Mr Kabimba’s politics will surely see the country as falling apart under the UPND administration.
His political outlook of the country dropping into despair is born out of the deep personal frustration. The loss of the PF, on whose back he was riding has had a huge impact on his political outlook.
He now portrays himself as a saint, yet Mr Kabimba as Minister of Justice and PF Secretary General was really arrogant and he took on the mighty civil society organisations by enforcing the draconian NGO Act 2007 that MMD had left without any amendments.
Yes, it is that the UPND administration is struggling, but it is important to recognise that the toxic political environment left by the PF has gone through change for the better.
Mr Kabimba should be a principled politician going by his socialist ideological inclination, yet, I have found him not different from other turncoat politicians. He can better.
In the 2021 general election, Mr Kabimba’s strategy was merely to block Hakainde Hichilema from winning the 2021 election.
And this does not seem to be an ideological fight between Mr Kabimba and President Hichilema, but just personal hatred.
It is important to consider psychosocial counselling so that personal anger does not consume you, Mr Kabimba.
You can wish President Hichilema away, but he is the President of Zambia and we can only wait for 2026.
