PF COUNSELS UPND

- By ROGERS KALERO

IT is irresponsible and reckless for the UPND government to concentrate on political persecution to silence vocal opposition leaders at a time, when poverty levels are worsening and the roads have continued to be in a deplorable state,’’ the Patriotic Front (PF) has said.

PF Copperbelt Media Director Munalula Moola said, in the eight months of the UPND being in government, poverty levels have continued to worsen in various communities, while some roads were looking like they were in war-torn country.

In an interview in Kitwe, Mr Moola said it was disappointing for those who believed in UPND to find that, in its eight months in government, it had failed to set the stage for road rehabilitation and laying a firm foundation for economic recovery.

He said it was clear from the waffling of the UPND government that they had no plan for economic recovery and national development, but merely wanted to form government to advance their personal and business interests.

“It is now eight months in government, the UPND is yet to settle down and has not done anything to firmly hold the confidence of the majority poverty stricken Zambians. Instead of holding the confidence of Zambians with a strong grip, it is now losing the confidence of the majority poverty stricken Zambians

“The UPND does not know where to start from hence wherever they hold meetings, what they talk about is corruption. It is shameful , irresponsible and reckless for the UPND government to concentrate on political persecution to silence vocal opposition leaders at a time, when poverty levels are worsening and the roads have continued to be in a deplorable state,’’ Mr Moola said.

Mr Moola said the PF had a well-designed programme to rehabilitate the roads in various areas which they had started, but in the August 12 elections, Zambians decided to replace the PF with the UPND which has lamentably failed to provide leadership and direction

“As PF, we will always walk with our heads high because Zambians themselves have come to confess that the PF was a caring and responsible party, but they blundered to vote for the UPND which has proved to be insensitive, irresponsible and reckless.

“Any way, this is the beauty of making change. You have something to compare to. Those who thought former President Edgar Lungu was a dictator will be able to tell who is a true and genuine dictator between the former President and this one, President Hakainde Hichilema,’’ Mr Moola said.
