IT’S SHAMEFUL - LUSAMBO

It’s petty to fight ECL through his children

- By GIDEON NYENDWA

It is petty for investigative wings to start fighting former president Mr Edgar Lungu indirectly using his children which is shameful and demeaning to the former head of state, former Lusaka province minister, Bowman Lusambo, has said.

Mr Lusambo said the president’s son, Dalitso Lungu, was nowhere near any public funds, politics and never belonged to any political party and one would wonder how his hard earned money or property would be suspected to be proceeds of crime.

“The young man chose a different path from politics and ventured in business where he is successful, he is a person who in his life has never even earned a government salary but today he is being investigated for corruption. Dalitso is a big boy, not what they are thinking,” he said.

On Wednesday May 18, 2022 former president Edgar Lungu’s son, Dalitso Lungu, appeared before the joint investigative team after he was summoned for questioning over nine vehicles belonging to Sarodi Limited, a company he with his family.

Mr Lusambo said they know that the investigative wings were after the former president and they should not go round and start embarrassing all his relations. He said if it was Mr Lungu they wanted to let them go directly to him rather than harassing his entire family before getting to him.

Mr Lusambo said what is wrong with a private company buying nine vehicles in order to enhance their business.

He said the people should be realistic because everyone one knows that if someone was a son of a president there were some certain privileges that they enjoyed and they were connected to a lot of people.

Mr Lusambo it was unreasonable to expect a businessman who had connections and privileges to fail to buy motor vehicles for his company.

He said investigative wings should absorb the pressure and start operating in a professional way because they would not only embarrass themselves but also the nation at large.
