LUSAMBO APOLOGY: PF TAKES KEEN INTEREST
ITwill be interesting to see how investi gative wings pursu ing former Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo will proceed with his case after his apolo gy to President Hakainde Hichilema, says PF depu ty media director, Edwin Lifwekelo, has said.
Mr Lifwekelo also said the UPND administration is on trial on the fight against corruption, because they are the ones making allegations against political opponents and so the burden of proof lies with their legal team.
He said the party can only assume Mr Lusambo’s apol ogy is based on his personal conviction and not on mat ters before courts of law.
He said the fight against corruption is under trial in the UPND led administra tion adding the fight should not be underpinned to mere induced apologies by those being pursued by the law.
Mr Lifwekelo said in this case the government through ACC and DEC made allega tions against Mr Lusambo on numerous corruption allegations and that now that he has apologized, it
will be interesting to see how President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration will proceed in the matter in view of the apology.
He said that while there is nothing wrong with Mr
Lusambo apologizing to President Hichilema, this should not have any bearing on matters before the courts of law.
Mr Lifwekelo said Zambians are tired of UPND compromised stance in the fight against corruption which has seen cutting of deals in the recent past.
“We have no problem with people making apologies as long as the apologies don’t dilute the fight against cor ruption on mere induced apologies and mere political gymnastics motivated by per sonal and selfish interests,” he said.
