ARROWS APPLAUD FANS

THE Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has hailed Red Arrows supporters for inspiring the team become Zambian champions by winning the domestic league.

Brigadier General Melesiano Chiluba said the unwavering support by the fans sparked the renewed energy that inspired the team to win the MTN/FAZ Super league.

He was speaking during the Red Arrows Football Club Champion Honour Guard and Trophy Presentati­on to fans at Nkoloma Stadium on Saturday,

Chiluba who was representi­ng ZAF Commander Collin Barry as the guest of honour said the selfless commitment by the fans ensured the team’s success.

He said the memorable crowning of Arrows as champions is a great achievemen­t worth celebratin­g because of the pride and joy the winning of the league brought to people associated to the club.

“The race to the coronation was not for the faint hearted but the team’s hard work, consistenc­e and sacrifice coupled with your unwavering support weekend in and out in, both here at Nkoloma and away sparked the renewed energy that inspired the team to win the league,” Chiluba said.

Red Arrows carried out a mini trophy tour of selected areas of Kaunda Square, Chamba Valley, Kamanga and Chelstone to appreciate the fans for the support.

Red Arrows players were also honoured with an honour salute which is a rare military prestige of recognitio­n and highest tribute of appreciati­on for service par excellence given at a formal military ceremony for winning the league.

Chiluba said the Air Force will do its part to ensure that Red Arrows competes favourably and represents the air force and the country with honour in all competitio­ns ahead including defending the league and winning the ABSA Cup.
