JUDICIARY BEING SILENCED?
Mr Kabimba, who is also a lawyer said he had observed that the move was based on tribal lines because all the magistrates had a Bemba inclination.
He said the current government was doing the exact things they were condemning the previous regime for as they were victimising the judges and magistrates in the Judiciary.
“If you look at the list, those people are mostly Bemba and to me it’s not a coincidence and HH spoke about it that there were people that were victimised by PF and even gave them amnesty to be reinstated but he has made a U-turn and is doing the exact thing the PF was doing,” Mr Kabimba said.
He said the transferring of magistrates was an intimidation and those who would be handed their cases would be scared because they would be looking at their compatriots who were unfairly treated.
He said the crusade was related to the desire to hound out the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ms Lillian Siyuni by the current government.
“There is a correlation between the transferring of the magistrates to the hounding out of the DPP as it is all part of the orchestrated move by the current regime,” Mr Kabimba said.
And a member of the PF Central Committee Tutwa Ngulube said the Judiciary should not be drawn into political matters because it was very professional.
Mr Ngulube said the head of State needed to reverse the transfers because they were uncalled for and were compromising the Judiciary and that if this trend continued, it would also trickle to Judges.
“They have started with the magistrates and they will end up with the Judges. My appeal is for the head of State to show leadership and stop this because the people undertaking these actions are doing it in his name,” Mr Ngulube said.
He said magistrates would now be using fear to adjudicate matters because they would have it in mind that any mistake would have negative reparations.
