‘BRING BACK STOLEN LOOT’

-

“You cannot ask us to chase after the money. Those who paid must return it ‘ Ba Daily Nation mwaloba ilyauma.’ If you are supporting looters, ask them to help us recover the money,” he said.

Mr. Milupi said the PF needed to come to terms with what they were doing in the past and they should even help the current government in the recovery of money for the rebranding process to be successful.

He said the FJT University project was not the only one that had been left hanging as there was the issue of the Ntumpa University in Kasama where US$12 million was paid but the works were stalled and no explanation was given.

Mr Milupi said it was unfortunate that some individuals in the previous regime were trying to implicate the current Minister of Technology Mr Felix Mutati when he was not even the Minister of Finance at the time the first payment towards the FJT University was made.

He wondered why the then Minister of Finance was not quizzed as they were the ones that authorised the payment.

“The first payment was

made two weeks after Mr Mutati was transferred to the Ministry of Works and Supply, was it the reason why they moved him because he was refusing to pay the amount?” he asked.

He said the then Justice Minister, Mr Given Lubinda could give a clear picture because all the contracts are counter signed by that ministry.

And when asked whether the government would go after the contractor, Mr Milupi said that the matters were still being investigated and once concluded the nation would be informed on the next course of action.

He however said those who would be found culpable would be fished out.
