Mr. Sambo also said the Op eration Save MMD is an illegal entity and does not merit at tention because the members of the party are not demanding anything on the presidency.
He maintained that the term of office for Dr. Mumba has not come to an end as alleged by some MMD imposters be cause he was elected for the second time in 2021.
Mr. Sambo said the ma noeuvres were all aimed at cre ating an impression that there was a problem in the MMD which was not the case. It was being pushed by the resurfac ing group that held the 2016 illegal convention nullified by the courts of law.
“The term of office has not come to an end as being al leged by a Mr. Sichilima and Ms Silvia Nawa, the only reason they are being mischie vous is because they are not members of the MMD and don’t respect its constitution,” he said.
But former MMD Member of Parliament for Muchinga, Howard Kunda said the con vention being talked about was being challenged in court following an injunction order.
Mr. Kunda said to this effect, the 2021 convention which re newed Dr. Mumba’s tenure of office was not recognised by the party members.
“His term came to an end on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 and we are saying that he should gracefully leave the office and we shall respect him as our former President,” Mr Kunda said.
