‘Establish ore processing firm at Black Mountain’
GOVERNMENT should es tablish a company near the Black Mountain which will process the ore that is com ing from the slag because transporting what is mined is the reason there are so many accidents at the site, Zambia United for sustain able Development (ZUSD) president Lazarus Chisela, has said.
Mr Chisela said that was the purpose the Black Moun tain was created by the mines so that they could put up a factory that would pro cess valuable minerals that would be mined from the mountain.
He said if a factory was to be put up by the government before allowing anyone to mine it would have helped a great deal in reducing the number of accidents that were as a result of transport ing the ore with tipper trucks to where they were being processed.
Mr Chisela also said that the government made a very big mistake by extend ing other parts of the Black Mountain to the Chinese who are mining from there and benefiting more than the indigenous people.
He said the youths on the Copperbelt get detained for straying on the side of the mountain that was given to the Chinese.
Mr Chisela said that was why the Zambian govern ment needed to put up a company in the long term near the mine so they could be doing whatever the Chi nese were doing and that could create jobs for most of the youths.
He said the reason that the Chinese were on the moun tain was because they real ised that there was a lot of money from what was being mined at there, a thing that the Zambian government was not seeing.
Mr Chisela said the Black Mountain was a time bomb at the moment because the youths were getting agitated every day in the way thing things were being run.
