Govt wins kudos …as duo gets citizenship

-

With government having approved Ma bika’s citizenship, the defender now has the green light to partner with Scotland based Frankie Musonda whose citizen ship was approved earlier.

Musonda was born from a British moth er and a Zambian father.

Sports fans patron Peter Makembo said government deserves to be praised for its efficiency to ensure that the Zambia Na tional team is geared for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

“Government has done its part to en sure that the team is ready for the AFCON qualifiers and now it is up to the players to deliver according to the expectations of many Zambians,” Makembo said.

“We know how challenging it is to qual ify for the Africa Cup because most teams have improved and that is why we need to play our roles for the team to qualify after missing the last three editions,” Makem bo said. “Government has done its part, the football association has also done its part and now it is up to the players to work hard to qualify for the AFCON,” he said.

Makembo said fans will also play their part by ensuring that the team is provided with the needed support in all the games to inspire positive results.

“As fans, we will continue to play our role as the 12th player because we know how crucial our role is, so the team should not worry about that,” he said.

After kicking off the AFCON qualifying campaign with a fixture against the Ele phants of Ivory Coast, the Chipolopolo will play their second group H AFCON qualifier against Comoros Islands on June 7 at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
