‘WE DON'T HAVE CONFIDENCE IN UPND'

- By ROGERS KALERO

THE UPND will not take the country anywhere in terms of economic recovery and national development because it has decided to be dancing to the tune of the colonialists and the western countries instead of marshalling am ambitious plan of home-grown solutions to set the stage for economic recovery,'' the Leadership Movement (LM) has said

LM national coordinator Jairos Ngoma said they have no confidence in the UPND government because it had failed to come up with home-grown solutions to achieve economic recovery, but was waiting for colonialists or the western countries to give direction on how to proceed.

In an interview in Kitwe at the weekend, Mr Ngoma said colonialists or the western countries were not interested in improving the welfare of Zambians but were more interested in the country's natural resources.

For this reason, they will not help the UPND government to achieve economic recovery, but will only help it to worsen the poverty levels in communities, he said.

Mr Ngoma said, instead of depending on colonialists to give direction or guidance, the UPND government must come up with local solutions which were productive like State farms and others.

"From the time UPND formed government, it has not done anything productive. It has just been reading nice speeches which cannot help improve people's lives. Apart from reading nice speeches and issuing good statements, it has been busy dancing to the tune of the colonialists whose interests are aimed at stripping Zambians of all natural resources

wing in poverty and hunger,'' Mr Ngoma said

Mr Ngoma said it was disheartening that the UPND government had chosen to squeeze Zambians to the bone to please the colonialists through policies like removing subsidy on fuel, while giving tax holidays to foreign investors
