Amunike says he’s ready for Zanaco challenge

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

NIGERIAN legend Emmanuel Amunike says he is ready to help Sensational Zanaco FC to dominate the MTN/FAZ Super League after six years of failure to win the Super League title.

Speaking during his unveiling ceremony yesterday at Zanaco Bank headquarters, Amunike, who qualified Tanzania to the Africa Cup in 2019 after 39 years hailed the Zanaco FC management for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the club as consultant to the technical bench.

Amunike said his main objective is to create a good legacy and help players at Zanaco FC develop into better players who will fight for the team’s success.

“We want to win our next game on Saturday and we want to top the league table but we have to bear in mind that there is a processing to everything in life. Before someone runs, you have to walk first and before you walk you have to stand so these are things we need to do,” Amunike said.

“We all want to leave a good legacy in whatever we are doing and if you have followed my history as a player and a coach I have tried to do my best wherever I go. I can guarantee you when you talk about hard work, discipline, commitment and having the desire and will to achieve you will get that from me,” he said.

He hailed the technical bench led by coach Kelvin Kaindu for a job well done despite having struggled to get the needed results.

Zanaco Football Club CEO, Modest Hamalabbi, said the appointment of Amunike will enhance the performance of the team not only in the FAZ/MTN Super league but also in CAF competitions.

Meanwhile, Zanaco Football Club Chairperson, David Musunga is confident that Amunike and his assistant Emeka Amadi will add value to the technical team

And FAZ Deputy General Secretary Joseph Chimpampwe welcomed Amunike and urged clubs to emulate Zanaco who are supplementing the association’s commitment to develop the local game.
