To achieve this, the mobile company invited developers to present their innovative ideas through the creation of an Application Programming Interface (API) that uses MTN mobile money to provide a service to the users.

The challenge created through the 2022 MTN MoMo Group Hackathon attracted 168 applications from local developers and 12 were pickee to pitch their presentation with 3 emerging as winners.

Ebukasa an enterprise that has developed an API on waste management got the first prize of $500 000.
