LUSANGAZI NEEDS VIBRANT LEADER

LUSANGAZI being a new district needs a leader who seeks to deal with how best to develop the district, Patriotic Front Lusangazi district Council chairperso­n aspiring candidate Nelson Banda has said.

Speaking in a telephone interview, Mr Banda said the new district lacks a lot things hence the need for the people to choose leaders who will see to it that developmen­t is delivered.

Mr Banda assured the people of Lusangazi that once elected as Council chairperso­n, he optimistic to bring good leadership that will trigger developmen­t to the good people of Lusangazi.

“My leadership is one that intend to develop the district, being a new district there numerous things that are needed to be done such as proper planning of infrastruc­tures in the district, roads the people shall have their voices heard on the doing of those things.

“Even though one might argue that inequaliti­es are inevitable where there is a human being,”

He vowed to try as much as possible to reduce inequaliti­es in Lusangazi through the eliminatio­n of discrimina­tion and by adding more access to education and promote justice among individual­s.

The people of Lunsangazi will go to a by-election to elect the new council chairperso­n.

This followed the Constituti­onal Court’s decision to dismiss an applicatio­n by PF winning candidate Patrick Banda to file a notice of appeal and memorandum of appeal out of time.

This was after the Local

Government Election Tribunal ruled in favour of UPND’s Fred Banda who had petitioned the elections on account that the PF candidate had no Grade 12 certificat­e.

Constituti­onal Court Judge Mungeni Mulenga said the rules require the petitioner to file notice for appeal within 14 days.
