K1million disbursed to Manyinga cooperatives
FOURTY-NINE women and youth cooperatives in Manyinga have benefitted from the disbursed K1 million under the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grants component.
Manyinga Member of Parliament, Robert Lihefu handed over the grants to the cooperatives.
“As you may be aware under the new CDF guidelines, CDF is now divided into three components namely; community projects, secondary school bursaries, skills development and youth and women empowerment” Mr Lihefu said.
He said out of the allocated K25.7 million 2022 CDF, government intends to spend K1.9 million for empowerment in form of grants which has been made available to all registered cooperatives within the district.
Mr Lihefu, who is North-Western Province Minister, expressed hope that the grants would help the beneficiaries implement various projects which they had applied for, adding that beneficiaries will also increase their personal revenue as cooperatives.
“Kindly put these funds to productive use for your business sustainability and improved livelihoods,” he added.

Council Secretary, Pythias Samakonga assured Manyinga residents of prudent utilisation of the CDF.
Mr Samakonga revealed that 92 applications were received from various cooperatives within the district who sought to access the grants component of which only 49 were approved.
“We received a lot of applications, but we only had to settle for 49 accordingly,” Mr Samakonga said.
Mr Samakonga reiterated Government’s policy of empowering the most vulnerable groups such as women and youths.
He said the local authority being the custodian of CDF will continue to uphold transparency and accountability in the disbursement of funds.
