BUFFALOES, ARROWS FACE OFF

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

RED Arrows’ quest to defend the MTN/FAZ Super League title will undergo another tough test when they host Green Buffaloes in a Week-7 fixture at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The local derby which will be the second fixture of the double header promises a lot of sparks with Buffaloes seeking to protect their unbeaten record.

Motivated by the 2-1 win over Buildcon FC in a rescheduled midweek fixture played on Wednesday, Red Arrows will fight for a win knowing that maximum three points may take them to the summit of the Super League table.

For Red Arrows assistant coach Kalililo Kakonje, today’s game is not going to be easy for the airmen who are unbeaten in the last three games where they managed to pick seven points.

“These are self-motivated games and I think we have done enough to ensure that the boys are ready for Buffaloes,” Kakonje said.

Arrows will be without their head coach Chisi Mbewe who is on national team duty with the under-20 and top strikers in Ricky Banda, Fred Tshimenga and Hope Katwishi who are nursing injuries.

Kakonje however believes that the

Airmen have enough ammunition to slaughter and hand Green Buffaloes their first defeat of the season.

Meanwhile, in the first fixture of the double header, High Flying Nkwazi FC will play hosts to Sensational Zanaco FC in a midlands derby.

While Zanaco will be seeking their first win in three games, Nkwazi will fight to maintain their winning run after beating Buildcon FC 4-0 last weekend in Ndola.

In other Super League fixtures FC MUZA will seek to redeem themselves from last week’s defeat to Napsa Stars when they host struggling Nkana FC who are winless in the last four games and occupy 16th position on the Super League table with five points.

Forest Rangers will welcome Nchanga Rangers at Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola while Power Dynamos will host Kansanshi Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

League leaders Prison Leopards will fight to protect their unbeaten record when they take on struggling Chambishi FC at President Stadium in Kabwe while Lumwana Radiants will take on Buildcon FC.

Tomorrow’s Super League action will see Green Eagles face Kabwe Warriors at Independence Stadium in Choma while the fixture involving Napsa Stars and Zesco United has been pushed to a later date due to Zesco’s involvement in the CAF Confederations Cup.
