Zambians not happy with new dawn, says Silumbe

- By CHARLES MUSONDA

THE Zambian people are not happy with the UPND government because of its unfulfilled promises, Leadership Movement (LM) leader Richard Silumbe says.

Speaking when he featured on LM Radio in Lusaka, Dr Silumbe said the Zambian people are unhappy with the UPND Government because it has backtracked on its campaign promises.

“We are seeing a very big disappointment in the eyes of the Zambian people ... everywhere we have gone people are disappointed with the ‘ New Dawn’ Government because they are wondering how they have gone 180 degrees away from what they promised,” Dr. Silumbe said.

He said the LM Movement knew that the UPND would perform below par because they had no manifesto to talk about.

He said other than depending on foreign investors, the UPND Government has no better plan to develop the country.

“Even if people unceremoniously accepted the promises of the UPND, by and large as Leadership Movement we knew that the UPND had no capacity to charge the economy fundamentally because they had no manifesto, they had no ideology. They believe in foreign investors, they believe in dependence on some people to give them money and this is exactly what is going on,” he said.

He said the UPND’s poor policies have left indigenous people in poverty.

He said most Zambians are disappointed because they were told that there would be jobs which are not there. He said the people Tare just hearing about a few propaganda jobs such as the recruitment of teachers and nurses, jobs that do not matter. He said such is the disappointment the people are seeing in the Zambians’ eyes everywhere the LM has been.
