48 groups receive CDF grants in Chongwe

48 CLUBS and cooperativ­es in Chongwe have received CDF grants and have benefited from the approved total of K1, 953,200.00 for the 2022 empowermen­t component of the CDF, Chongwe municipal council Public Relations Officer (PRO), Cecilia Musonda has said.

Ms. Musonda confirmed the developmen­t yesterday and said that a total of K1, 953,200.00 for 99 clubs was approved in the 2022 CDF allocation. She said that the allocation­s of the remaining 51 groups have already been approved and what remains is disburseme­nt.

The PRO disclosed that the CDF committee disbursed K470, 085 to 24 groups in the first quarter and a further K488, 000 was released for another 24 groups in the second quarter. She said that another 24 groups would receive K488, 000 for the third quarter and another 27 groups would receive a total of K507, 115 for the fourth quarter.

Ms. Musonda further disclosed that a total of K4, 658,667.47 was approved for implementa­tion for the whole year under the CDF Bursaries component. She said that a total of 406 pupils have so far been sponsored under Secondary Boarding School bursaries while 342 Youths have been sponsored under skills developmen­t to various TEVETA accredited institutio­ns.

The Chongwe council PRO also revealed that the component of community projects, 625 Desks have been procured and were being distribute­d across the schools in the district. She was also happy that the constructi­on of a modern ablution block at Chongwe primary school had reached an advanced stage and would be completed by the end of November.
