ZRP happy with Dr Chilufya’s candidature

- By GIDEON NYENDWA

THE Zambia Republican Party is elated that Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has decided to join the race for the Patriotic Front (PF) presidency and is hopeful that the former Health Minister is going to lead the former ruling party after its general conference in March next year.

ZRP president Wright Musoma says his party was worried that Dr Chilufya, one of the best Health Ministers Zambia has ever had had been quiet for a long time following the defeat of the PF in 2021.

Mr Musoma said leaders like Dr Chilufya should never go into political extinction because they were an asset to the governance and development of the country.

He said Zambia needed the calibre of leaders who Dr Chilufya because the former minister had proved that he was an astute leader even after he was faced with political tribulations.

“Chitalu Chilufya is a selfless, hardworking, patriotic, humble and yet very intelligent visionary leader. Majority of them are credible and they have given the people the cream de la cream, Dr. Chilufya, Brian Mundubile, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Chishimba Kambwili and Emmanuel Mwamba. These are gentlemen with true leadership qualities. The PF has exhibited that it has no shortage of leaders and it is our expectation that the former ruling party will be revived and reclaim its manadate with anyone of the leaders in the race for the PF top job” Mr Musoma said

Mr Musoma said he was happy that the process of electing leadership in the PF had taken place at long last so that the people would have a variety of people to choose from in 2026.

He said the PF had demonstrated that it was a great party going by the calibre of people that filed in their nominations and claimed that most of the aspiring candidates were people of credible personalities.

Mr Musoma said PF should expedite the process of electing the president so that Zambians should know the people they could be working with.

He said it was clear that the Zambians were already fatigued with the UPND and its leadership as most were complaining and regretting having voted for President Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr Musoma said; “We expect a PF president to come from among these eight best candidates because they all, without a doubt have capacity to take Zambia to greater heights.”

Mr Musoma said a lot of people were fed up with the UPND leadership including some influential members of the ruling party who were just waiting for the right time to come out in the open.
