Chilanga Cement wins State’s kudos

GOVERNMENT has hailed Chilanga Cement for supplement­ing its efforts to promote sports and wellness through the annual Corporate Golf Day aimed at raising funds for charities in Chilanga.

On Friday, Chilanga Cement and Chilanga Golf Club hosted the 11th edition of the annual corporate golf day which attracted over 100 corporate golfers from different entities.

The golf tournament which attracted golfers from Zambia Sugar, Total Energies, Toyota Zambia was scooped by Hamuzala Muzandu, Marlon Chitalu, Jullian Muntali and K. Imbuwa who amassed 108 points from Lindham.

Platchem claimed the second position with 108 points while the Chilanga Golf Club Committee came out third after collecting 103 points.

Zambia Sugar claimed the fourth spot with 98 points after a count back while Zambia Army and Kemotronic­s claimed the fifth and sixth positions with 98 and 96 points respective­ly.

Speaking during the prize giving ceremony, Minister of Sports Youth and Arts Elvis Nkandu hailed the new management of Chilanga Cement, Huaxin Cement Company Limited for supporting the club and its various initiative­s.

In a speech read by Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe,

Nkandu also hailed all the corporates that took part in the tournament for joining hands with Chilanga Cement to contribute towards the management of the Junior Golf Academy at Chilanga Golf Club.

Nkandu said Government will continue to develop policies aimed at providing a legal framework that will contribute to the developmen­t of sports codes in the country.

He said government appreciate­s the role sports plays not only in keeping people healthy but also the contributi­on it brings to the economic developmen­t of a country.

And Chilanga Cement CEO Chai Jiamping said since his arrival in Zambia 10 months ago, he was happy to see how peaceful and willingly corporate companies work together on charitable causes.

Jiamping reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to participat­e in programmes that bring communitie­s and companies together to help develop the country.

Chilanga Cement Board Chairman Muna Hantuba said that since inception, Chilanga Cement has been a proud supporter of golf in the country as a means to uplift people, build character and instill good values. Meanwhile, Chilanga Golf Club President Chooye Hamusankwa thanked Chilanga Cement and all the sponsors for making the 2022 Chilanga Cement annual Golf Day a success.
