SABOI IMBOELA FINALLY RELEASED ON BOND

-

She said that it was unfortunate that State House was using guerrilla media to tarnish political opponents.

Ms Imboela said that there was need to separate the media team that was handling the Republican President as they were also working in certain online media to tarnish the opposition.

She said she worked in the UPND media and understood the dynamics which were at play.

Ms Imboela said that her case was a civil matter and not a criminal case and there was no basis for her to be incarcerated for a long time.

“I have learnt a lot from my incarceration but I must say that I’m a bit disappointed with the treatment I have received,” Ms Imboela said.

And Ms Imboela’s lawyer Charles Changano said it was unfortunate that some arrests were made even before the police had concluded their investigations. Mr Changano said it was wrong for his client to be detained for more than 24 hours when the law was clear.

Mr Changano who is a former police officer said he had never detained anyone for more than 24 hours.

“I’m a retired police officer but I can tell you that during my time I never detained anyone for more than 24 hours without following the right procedure,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Hamasaka has sued MS Imboela for allegedly accusing him of being a womaniser, tribalist and corrupt which amounts to defamation. Mr Hamasaka wants the Lusaka High Court to grant him an injunction barring Ms Imboela from issuing defamatory statements and articles.

He is also demanding damages for defamation.

Mr Hamasaka stated in a statement of claim that between September 8 and 13, 2022, Ms Imboela issued defamatory articles through her social media platforms which included Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp.

Ms Imboela is said to have stated that Mr Hamasaka and Brian Mwiinga were uncle and nephew as well as admins for a social media page called Koswe.
