KANSANSHI DYNAMOS PUNISH WARRIORS

...as Nkana and Nkwazi settle for a draw

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

KANSANSHI Dynamos propelled to ninth on the MTN/ FAZ Super League after shocking Kabwe Warriors 1-0 in a Week-11 fixture played yesterday at Lumwana Grounds.

A 33rd minute goal from Bruce Musakanya handed Kansanshi the victory which piled more pressure on coach George Lwandamina who has struggled with three defeats and five draws in the last eight games.

The win over Warriors excites Kansanshi Dynamos head coach Boyd Mulwanda who commended his boys for putting up a spitted fight against Warriors.

"We needed a positive result. We just have to start pushing on the log and it is good that we came out with a win. It was a game of two halves. First half we dominated and created chances but the second half Warriors changed their tactical approach which was difficult for us we couldn't contain them and we tried to manage the game but they came on us too strong," Mulwanda said.

He added that the win over Warriors would boost the players’ confidence and inspire them to pick maximum points in their next games as they compete in the Super League.

Meanwhile, Warriors first assistant coach Humphrey Malikoni attributed the defeat to their failure to convert chances"We didn't start very well. We gave Kansanshi too much room to play and in the second half we played well and created chances. We could have equalised and score a winning goal but it wasn't just our day. The game plan was okay though we started very slowly. We have to keep working hard. We will start winning. Right now we are just going through a rough patch.

After the defeat in Lumwanna, Warriors maintained 17th position on the Super League table with nine points collected from one win, six draws and four losses while Kansanshi move to 16 points.

Meanwhile, Kitwe giants Nkana FC and Nkwazi shared the spoils after a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka.

Nkana who are now winless in the last nine games where they have picked five draws and four defeats remain sixteenth on the log with nine points collected from one win, six draws and four loses.

Nkwazi remained 13th on the Super League table with 12 points collected from two wins over Chambishi and Buildcon FC, six draws and three defeats.
