ZESCO, NAPSA SEEK WINS

…as rejuvenated Nkana date struggling Green Eagles

- By MICHAL MIYOBA

ZESCO United’s quest to bounce back to winning ways will face a tough test today when the Ndola outfit host rejuvenated Green Buffaloes in a mid-week-13 MTN/FAZ Super League fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The hosts will be seeking redemption after last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Sensational Zanaco FC in Lusaka.

It is another tough test for caretaker coach Alfred Lupiya who is under pressure to help the Ndola giants bounce back to winning ways to increase their chances of qualifying for the ABSA Cup.

“Our focus is on the game against Green Buffaloes. It is a big game for us and a must win,” Lupiya said in an interview after the painful defeat to Zanaco.

Zesco are ninth on the Super League table with 17 points and a win over Buffaloes may propel them back into the top six bracket on the log.

However, is will not be easy for Zesco United to overcome Buffaloes who are enjoying great form having beaten Power Dynamos and Napsa Stars in their last two fixtures.

Meanwhile, Napsa Stars

will seek redemption from Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Buffaloes when they host struggling Chambishi FC at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Despite Napsa being the favourites going into today’s game against Chambishi who are aiming to recover from last week’s 4-2 loss to Power Dynamos, Mutapa is expecting a tricky game because Chambishi have proven to be great competitors after winning two of their last three games.

“It will be very tricky. Similar to Buildcon game, everyone was expecting us to beat Buildcon but they’re in this league because they earned it. So people will always think that, but the most important thing is we should not underrate anyone, and this one might be different because we are playing at home and hopefully if rains won’t come, we are very optimistic, we might carry the day,” Mutapa said.

At Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka, defending champions Red Arrows who have gone three games without a win face rejuvenated MUZA FC who punished Kabwe Warriors 2-1 on Sunday.

The fixture presents a tough test for the Airmen who will fight for a win to maintain top position on the FAZ Super League table.

Kitwe giants Nkana FC are in Choma to lock horns with struggling Green Eagles who are coming from two consecutive defeats against Chambishi and Nchanga Rangers.

Nkana will seek a win to motivate them going into Saturday’s Kitwe derby against Power Dynamos who are dating Nchanga Rangers at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

Struggling Kabwe Warriors who have only managed one win, six draws and five defeats in 12 games will seek to redeem themselves when they host fellow strugglers Buildcon who are still searching for their first win in the league.

Lumwana Radinats will welcome Forest Rangers today while, Kansanshi will host Sensational Zanaco FC in tomorrow’s fixture in Lumwana.
