Govt geared to support innovative ideas

GOVERNMENT will create an enabling policy framework to support the birth of innovative digital ideas and growth of businesses in the country.

This will support the overall digital transformation agenda at national level, Science and Technology Minister Felix Mutati said recently in Lusaka at the launch of Zamtel Enterprise Business product offering.

Mr Mutati pointed out that the digital revolution was transforming the world and how businesses connected with its clients.

“How we work, connect and live has changed dramatically and it keeps evolving at a fast pace. Almost half of the world’s population is now connected to the internet.

“Therefore, it is encouraging to see that Zamtel is proactively ensuring it is one of the critical players in driving a digital and cashless Zambia,” he said.

Mr Mutati said Zamtel had a unique mandate of supporting the Government’s agenda of taking telecommunication services to the unserved across the country.

He said Government remained committed to ensure that Zamtel was fully supported to effectively discharged its mandate.

Mr Mutati said the Zamtel enterprise business product offering was a clear demonstration of the company’s ability to be innovative.

“It brings me much joy and pride to see how Zamtel continues to diversify its business portfolio through the development of innovative products and solutions that are aimed at resolving customer challenges,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Zamtel acting Chief Executive Officer Joshua Malupenga, said the unveiling of these products and services would be to simplify the operations, increase operational efficiency and enhance customer experience in various sectors.

“Digitalisation has gone far beyond the standard customer products have long been used to- it is much more than being online, that is why we want to allow customers to access more personalised products and services through new innovations,” Mr Malupenga said.

He said over the past one year, Zamtel had enhanced the systems to increase and improve the internet capacity to ensure uninterrupted services, additionally have remodeled and restricted both the enterprise and customer team to ensure a second to none after sales service support.
