ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION REQUIRES A HOLISTIC APPROACH- ELIAS MUBANGA
FOR economic transportation to thrive, it requires a holistic approach to address the multifaceted constraints that face key sectors, Small and Medium Enterprise Minister Elias Mubanga says.
Mr Mubanga has observed that it was for that reason that his Ministry was created to spearhead the process.
He said if the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMES) are to make a significant contribution to the growth of the country, digital transformation is key.
Mr Mubanga said that digitizing the operations of SMEMS business will contribute to improving products quality and services.
This was contained in a speech ready on his behalf by Director in the Ministry Kennedy Mumba during the extra ordinary general meeting for Information Communication Technologies Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) in Livingstone.
He said that digital transformation is an enabler that opens new doors to build products, discovering clients, creating value and revenue.
Mr Mubanga said ICTAZ is the key driver of this agenda and was quick to implore the association to engage his Ministry so that the skills and knowledge in the field of information and technology is transferred to the entrepreneurs.
He noted that the use of digital techniques and tools can change and reorganize the existing business process that many SMES and Cooperatives are using.
And ICTAZ president Clement Sinyangwe has encouraged his members to take advantage of the available funds under the Ministry of SMEs and improve their personal businesses.
Mr Sinayngwe said this is not withstanding the fact the ICTAZ falls under the Ministry of Technology and Science but that the association caters across all ministries.
He further said that the association is next year planning to increase compliance levels and grow its membership.
The conference is being held under the them “a new era for digital innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities for all”.
