REDEMPTION TIME?…

Nkana, Zesco seek to find winning formula after losses

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER their disappointing 1-0 defeat to bitter rivals Power Dynamos in last weekend’s Kitwe derby, Nkana FC will aim to redeem themselves when they face Napsa Stars in a Week-15 MTN/FAZ Super league fixture at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The fixture promises to be an explosive affair as Napsa Stars will also be seeking to redeem themselves from a six-game winless run.

After three consecutive defeats, the Pensioners were fortunate to get a point from their last Super League fixture against Forest Rangers and will fight to avoid another disappointing result as they host Beston

Chambeshi’s charges.

Nkana will be without dependable striker Alex Ng’onga who has been handed a provisional ban by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for unsporting behaviour during the Kitwe derby.

Ng’onga kicked a Super Sport microphone and tore his jersey when he was substituted

Chambeshi will look to the experience of Diamond Chikwekwe and young Patrick Gondwe to deliver a result that excite the noisy and demanding Nkana fans who are not used to seeing their team struggle.

For coach Perry Mutapa, today’s home fixture is crucial as it presents a turning point for the Pensioners who are outside the top 10 on the Super League table where they are 11th with 17 points.

Meanwhile, struggling Zesco United will take on Nchanga Rangers in another interesting fixture at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

After three consecutive defeats, the Ndola giants will aim for their fifth win of the season after struggling with five draws, five defeats and four wins and seat on 12th position on the log with 17 points.

At Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, the league leaders Power Dynamos will welcome fifth-placed Forest Rangers who are aiming to bounce back from defeat to Green Eagles.

Motivated by the victory over Nkana FC in their previous fixture, Power dynamos will fight for a win to maintain their stay ahead of defending champions Red Arrows who are one point behind and will be facing Lumwana Radiants.

In other Super League fixtures, rejuvenated Green Eagles will host Prison Leopards while Kabwe Warriors will face Green Buffaloes whose aim is to escalate their unbeaten record to five games after picking three wins and one draw in the last four games.

Kansanshi Dynamos will play Chambishi FC while struggling Buildcon who are yet to record any win this season will host Sensational Zanaco FC. MUZA FC will welcome Nkwazi FC at Nakambala Stadium in Mazabuka.
