THE 2022/2023 FERTILISER DISTRIBUTING IS HEARTBREAKING - GBM
THE 2022/2023 fertiliser distribution exercise is heartbreaking and it pains to watch images of cooperatives sharing small portions of fertiliser spread out on the ground, Patriotic Front (PF) presidential aspiring candidate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said.
Mr. Mwamba said the delivery and distribution of fertiliser under President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND administration was the most painful demonstration of incompetency he had ever known since he became an adult to able to understand matters of governance.
“You insisted on running government, combed the whole of Zambia literally begging people to vote for you. Finally, and reluctantly, the Zambians give in to your wishes. This is what you turn out to be. As if he is talking to children under the age of five,” Mr Mwamba complained.
Mr. Mwamba said President Hichilema had justified the poor fertiliser distribution exercise claiming that the system needed to be cleaned first but the cleaning of the FISP had turned out to be a conduit for corruption which had resulted into failure to deliver the fertiliser to farmers.
He wondered why the Ministry of Agriculture was distributing fertiliser in tins and small cups.
He added that the Head of State’s obsession with fixing what was not broken just because it was built by a government he hated with a passion was hurting innocent Zambians.
Mr Mwamba said the incompetency President Hichilema was demonstrating was already brewing discontent in the nation and risked food security.
He said Zambians must know that UPND had shortchanged them and betrayed their hopes and dreams.
“Zambians must be ready for tough times ahead especially between now and 2026 when the country goes to the polls to elect the next government, he said.
Mr. Mwamba said the measure of a successful government must primarily be seen in the agricultural sector where food was produced, a commodity indispensable for the survival of any living thing.
