SISTA-SISTA ARRESTED OVER HOMOSEXUAL PARADE
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said Police have also charged and arrested three others identified as Ann Kazhila Hollard aged 28 of Civic Center area who was the Programme Director, Chilombu Kabambi aged 22 an Administrative Assistant under the same foundation and Luse Mwila Chanda aged 25 with the offence of Unlawful Assembly.
Mr Mwale said the suspects are in police custody and will appear in court soon and investigations into the matter intensified.
He also said the Police have instituted investigations into the programmes and activities of Sistah Sistah Foundation.
On Saturday March 4, 2023 Sistah Sistah Foundation conducted a demonstration in Lusaka advocating for the freedoms of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ).
The protesters marched along Great East Road clad in LGBTQ colours, flags and placards with messages that promote LGBT that is contrary to the laws of Zambia.
And Ms Kateka has said the recent public protest by the LGBTQ community which was sanctioned by the Zambia Police was a sign that both the police and the homosexual community were daring Zambians in an attempt to officially establish themselves against the country’s Constitution.
Zambians on Saturday woke up to a rude shock when they witnessed the LGBTQ openly taking to the streets, at the protection and escort of the Zambia Police in a queer protest about their chosen sexual orientation.
Commenting on the incident which has been roundly condemned, Ms Kateka said it was unfortunate that the police and the LGBTQ community in Zambia were assaulting Zambia’s culture, values and norms by advocating the legalisation of abominable acts such as homosexuality and lesbianism. Ms Kateka said the police were supposed to pull back and call for back up the moment they saw that what was happening was not the initial agenda but a march to promote LGBTQ messages.
