KALABA SCOLDS UPND OVER LGBTQ PROTESTS
THE demonstration to promote Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ) by a queer organisation called Sista Sista Foundation had blessings of the UPND government, Citizens First president Harry Kalaba has said.
And Mr Kalaba has revealed that Africa Liberal Network (ALN) have been in Zambia and had met and paid courtesy calls on some high-ranking government officials to promote the LGBTQ.
Mr Kalaba said it was not a coincidence that LGBTQ protest happened at a time the leaders of the Africa Liberal Network (ALC) an organisation that supports and promotes LGBTQ were in the country.
He said ALN was a group that supports LGBTQ in Africa and that it was public knowledge that UPND as a political party was a member of that organisation.
The Africa Liberal Network is an alliance of 47 liberal democratic political parties and organisations from 30 African countries and the UPND has been a member of the organisation.
Mr Kalaba said the leaders of the ALN were in the country and even paid a courtesy call on Vice President Mutale Nalumango.
“It is not by accident or coincidence that the Africa Liberal Network leaders are in the country and suddenly we are seeing protests advocating for something (homosexuality) that is illegal in this country. People of Zambia must smell the coffee and know that this country is in trouble,” Mr Kalaba said.
Mr Kalaba said demonstration was against the laws of Zambia so the people who championed it including the police that gave them escort must be brought to book.
