ProBASE STRIKES LESOTHO DEAL

ZAMBIAN companies have continued to break into new markets with the latest Fintech, ProBASE, which has struck a partnershi­p with Revenue Services in Lesotho to provide an integrated payment solution.

This partnershi­p is expected to enhance efficiency, transparen­cy and convenienc­e in revenue collection processes in Lesotho.

ProBase through its Chief Operations Officer Chola Bwalya has expressed confidence that the payment platforms would benefit the kingdom of Lesotho in terms of efficient domestic resource mobilisati­on.

“ProBASE is thrilled to be part of the journey of solutions for Revenue Services Lesotho. As a services provider, we believe that the developmen­t will revolution­alise the way revenue collection­s and settlement­s are done.

“They will improve efficiency, accuracy and security and with the self-service features, we will empower tax payers with seamless platforms for payment of tax obligation­s in the comfort of their homes, offices, anywhere anytime,” Mr Bwalya said at the launch of the partnershi­p.

And ProBASE Chief Executive Officer Roy Muyelu said the provision of e-payment and e-taxation platforms to the Revenue Services Lesotho was part of the company’s strategic agenda of being the leading fintech in the region by 2026.

In response, Lesotho Finance Minister Retselisit­soe Matlanyane, said the developmen­t, would go a long way in improving efficiency and service delivery and increase value added tax compliance.

This is part of the African Developmen­t Bank (AfDB) funded Tax Modernisat­ion Project.

“Post Covid-19 and Lesotho facing economic shocks driven by external and internal challenges, we need to move with technology to enhance tax administra­tion. This developmen­t is, therefore, a journey to take Lesotho to a new level in terms of tax administra­tion,” Dr Matlanyane said.

Speaking at the same event, Revenue Services Lesotho Acting Commission­er General, Mathabo Mokoko said the organisati­on in collaborat­ion with stakeholde­rs in the finance and economic industries were striving to improve and provide easy methods of tax payments and e-filling for their clients.
