Bank of Zambia calls for submission for working papers on monetary policy, inflation

- By BUUMBA CHIMBULU

THE Bank of Zambia (BoZ) has urged researchers and scholars to submit working papers focusing on areas such as climate change, financial stability, monetary policy and inflation to be used for information dissemination and knowledge sharing.

The central bank publishes research papers on various issues of interest to the Zambian economy in a Working Papers Series as part of information dissemination and knowledge sharing.

Among the themes for the papers as shared on the BoZ official website is climate change, financial technology and financial inclusion.

“Topical issues such as climate change and their implications on monetary policy, as well as financial technology and its implications on central banking and financial inclusion are covered under this theme.

“Other emerging themes may encompass topics that have significant implications on monetary policy, but are temporary and unanticipated in nature,” the bank stated.

The papers are also expected to be themed on monetary policy and inflation.

This encompasses the central bank’s primary role in the economy.

“Research in this area focuses on the monetary policy transmission mechanisms and links to inflation,” the central bank stated.

Finance and financial stability is among the theme for the working papers which the central bank was looking for.

This covers aspects of research on financial markets - foreign exchange markets, money markets, government securities markets, as well as reserves management and financial stability.

“The papers should also be themed around fiscal policy, debt, international trade and growth. This relates to research on fiscal policy, external sector dynamic - debt and trade - and their implications on economic growth,” BoZ guided.

It also guided that the manuscript could be submitted any time and should not exceed 30 pages, including references.

Upon acceptance of the manuscripts, the author(s) will be invited to present the paper(s) virtually at the BoZ Research Seminar.
