PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has honoured former Chipolopolo skipper Enock Mwepu with a special President’s Award for his contribution to football in the country.
Hichilema honoured Mwepu during the 2022 National Sports Awards gala held on Saturday night at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre’s Kenneth Kaunda Wing.
The exciting award gala was characterised with exciting performances from some of the country’s best perfoming artists such as Trina Zambia, Yo Maps, Wezi, T-Sean, and the legendary Moses Sakala from the Sakala Brothers fame.
The President remembered Mwepu “The Computer,” who featured for English Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion before he was forced to retire from football at the age of 24 after he was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition.
Meanwhile, athlete Muzala Samukonga was voted 2022 Sports Man of the Year following an impressive year that saw him win gold medals at the Africa Athletics Championships and the Commonwealth Games.
