Grant wants winning mentality to continue
CHIPOLOPOLO coach Avram Grant says his desire is to mould a Chipolopolo squad that will desire to win all the games they play.
Grant, who guided the Chipolopolo to a double victory over Lesotho home and away in the crucial 2023 Ivory Coast AFCON qualifiers said he was focused on the next challenge which will see Zambia face Ivory Coast in a Group H fixture of the qualifiers.
Despite Zambia only needing a draw in the game against Ivory Coast to qualify for the AFCON after a nine-year absence, Grant said the next game is crucial for the team whose main objective is to qualify for AFCON and the World Cup.
“We are looking to the next challenge and we will present the players with the targets of the team, what we are going to achieve because everyone knows that we want to be at the World Cup and we want to be at the Africa Cup where we haven’t been but we don’t need to concentrate about that we attitude. To have a winning attitude is to plan for every game it doesn’t matter the opponent,” he said.
Grant challenged his players, especially European based players to show that they deserve to be in Europe and to be called for national team duty.
Grant hailed Zambian fans for inspiring the Chipolopolo to collect maximum six points against Lesotho.
