Catholic Priest challenges young people to work hard

- By ANDREW MUKOMA

A CATHOLIC Priest in Livingstone Diocese has advised young people in country to stop complaining about things being hard but should instead work hard and contribute to the nation’s development by engaging in productive activities.

Father Daniel Naji a member of the Spiritan Community of Maria Regina Linda Parish has observed that youths in Zambia have developed the trend of complaining without working hard.

He said that time has come for young people to adopt the culture of hard working and contribute to the growth of the nation.

Fr Naji said this during this year’s Palm Sunday mass held at Linda Parish which was also attended by Katombora Member of Parliament Clement Andeleki.

He further urged congregants to observe the holy week by letting go of things that make them fall short of the glory of God.

In his homily, Fr Naji said Christians should not just talk about the gospel but should instead emulate the kind of life Jesus lived.

Fr Naji observed that Christians should always remain exemplary in their behaviour.

He added that it was important that people conduct themselves in a clean and morally upright manner even as the World observes the holy week.

And Katombora Member of Parliament Clement Andeleki called on the Church to play a pivotal role in helping Government eradicate poverty among the citizenry.

Dr Andeleki said that the Church should partner with Government in fighting bad vices such as early marriages, drug and alcohol abuse among others.

He said that the new dawn Government values the role that the Catholic Church has continued to play in the Country.

Dr Andeleki said that the Church should take up its position in society to engage Government on how best poverty levels could be reduced amongst its citizens.
