BUFFALOES STILL HAS EYES ON TITLE

…as Perry Mutapa cautions Pensioners not to relax

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

GREEN Buffaloes assistant coach Dennis Banda says the soldiers are still in contention for the FAZ Super Division title.

Green Buffaloes are second on the log with 45 points, seven points behind the league leaders Power Dynamos who held them to a goalless draw at Edwin Imboela Stadium on Sunday.

Banda noted that Buffaloes will have to work hard in the remaining seven games to achieve the objective of challenging for the Super League title.

“Title ambitions are still there. We are looking for the title but we have to work hard in terms of scoring,” Banda, a former Green Buffaloes centre back said in an interview.

“I think we need to stay focused as we look to the next game that is the most important point because we take the game as it comes,” he said.

Asked about the numerous chances missed in the game against Power Dynamos on Sunday, Banda said; “The players played according to our plan but we missed a lot of chances to convert. It is worrying because you can’t create four or five chances and fail to convert any.”

Banda however noted that it was a bonus for Power Dynamos to draw in Lusaka having lost when Buffaloes visited Power Dynamos in a Week-11 fixture played last in November last year.

Meanwhile, Napsa Stars coach Perry Mutapa has cautioned his charges not to relax after picking three consecutive wins.

Mutapa said in an interview after the Pensioners beat Zanaco 1-0 on Sunday that they will have to continue fighting hard to achieve their aim of beating the relegation mark.

Napsa Stars are fifth on the Super League table with 42 points, 10 points behind Power Dynamos.

The Pensioners will face second-placed Green Buffaloes in the next fixture and Mutapa is expecting another tough fixture as he is set to clash with his former assistant in Masautso Tembo who is the head gaffer of Green Buffaloes.

“It will be a very tough game against Green Buffaloes. They are second on the log they have done very well and they beat us the last time but like the game against Zanaco, we told the guys the only team that has managed to beat us home and away is Power Dynamos. We will be at home and we must make sure to collect the maximum points.” Mutapa said.
