Fix Chipata/Chadiza and Chipata/ Vubwi roads, says Luangeni MP
LUANGENI Member of Parliament, Moses Moyo, says there is a need to work on the Chipata-Chadiza and Chipata-Vubwi roads as the two are economically viable to farmers in the constituency.
Mr Moyo says the two roads are in a deplorable state and disadvantageous to the farmers from his constituency when transporting their produce.
Speaking at a meeting when addressing people at Kalunga in Luangeni, the lawmaker said he would lobby the Government on their behalf to ensure that works on the two roads could be instituted.
“I have heard your complaints concerning the two roads that are of great concern in Luangeni constituency. I can assure you that the Government has got plans to work on them and very soon results will be seen,” he said.
Mr Moyo, who is also Second Speaker of the National Assembly, said the two roads were the only means of transporting the produce from the farms in Luangeni.
He said the people of Luangeni were so much into agriculture and if the roads were constructed to bituminous standards, it would be easy for them to access the readily available markets for their produce.
“In Luangeni constituency, we are not blessed with mines like other constituencies, people here depend on agriculture to earn revenue to support their families. These two roads are very important to them and all the people in the neighbouring districts,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Moyo said, this year after the rainy season, a contractor who had already been engaged will drill boreholes in areas from the constituency where people have no access to clean and safe drinking water.
