WADA IN ‘CHICKEN’ SOUP

…WEDSON NYIRENDA AND ‘CHICKEN’ GEORGE FACEOFF IN TODAY’S CLASH OF TITANS

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

WEDSON Nyirenda’s quest to help Sensational Zanaco FC avoid relegation will face a tough test when the Bankers visit Levy Mwanawasa Stadium for a date with Ndola giants Zesco United being drilled by “Chicken” George Lwandamina.

Nyirenda was on Monday unveiled as Zanaco FC head coach following the exit of Kelvin Kaindu and Nigerian legend Emmanuel Amunike who were axed after an eight-game winless run in the Super League.

The experienced gaffer who in 2009 won the FAZ Super League title with Zanaco begins his third stint at the club with a mission to help the side finish in the top 10 after a disastrous season.

Nyirenda will hope that the few days he has spent with the Bankers will gift his players the needed motivation to overcome the hosts who are deemed as the favuorites.

For Zesco United, today’s clash presents them a chance to get revenge for the 1-0 defeat recorded when they visited Zanaco on November 12 last year.

Zesco United still remember the second minute goal scored by John Kaumbwe which proved to be the difference as the two giants faced off.

While Zesco United who are ninth on the Super League table will be searching for maximum three points to move into the top four, Zanaco will fight to complete a double over the Ndola outfit to climb up on the FAZ Super League ladder.

To get the goals Lwandamina will look to his lethal striking force that bashed Buildcon FC 6-0 in the last fixtures thanks to goals from Enock Sakala, Vincent Oburu, Colins Sikombe, Lazarus Kambole and Nsonga Chipyoka.

Meanwhile, defending champions Red Arrows will seek to bounce back to winning ways when they host Prison Leopards in a service derby at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

The Airmen have struggled with two draws and one defeat in the last three games while Prison Leopards will be fighting for the same target after three consecutive draws.

At Nakamgbala Stadium in Mazabuka, giant killers Muza FC date Kabwe Warriors in a fixture which promises a lot of sparks.

While, Muza will fight for a win to increase their chances of snatching a double this season, Numba Mumamba’s Kabwe Warriors will fight for a win to avoid dropping into the danger zone on the Super League table.

After their 2-1 win over Nkwazi in their last fixture, Kitwe giants Nkana FC will fight to protect their seven-games unbreaten run when they face Lumwana Radiants at Lumwana Grounds in Solwezi.

At Lusaka’s Edwin Imboela Stadium, Nkwazi will seek redemption when the host Forest Rangers who are motivated by their ABSA Cup semifinal triumph over Power Dynamos last weekend.

In the other Super League clashes, rejuvenated Napsa Stars date second-placed Green Buffaloes whose aim is to complete a double over the Pensioners when they face off At Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The game pits former best friends in Perry Mutapa and Masautso Tembo whose rivalry continues to grow every season.

Tomorrow’s Super League action will see Power Dynamos host Chambishi at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe while Kansanshi Dynamos will welcome relegated Buildcon FC at Lumwana grounds.
