RIDERS GEAR UP FOR SPECTRA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
OVER 35 riders are set to compete in the second round of the Spectra National Motocross Championship tomorrow at the Eureka Motorcross Park in Lusaka.
According to the organising committee, preparations are progressing well for the championship which will see local riders compete for top prizes.
The organisers disclosed that most of the works on the track have been completed.
“After a successful round which was recently held in Kitwe we anticipate to have another exciting event in Lusaka where about 35 riders are expected to compete,” the organising committee said.
“Online entries closed on 20th but late entries will be allowed up to race day and so far preparations are going on well with most works on the track completed.”
Round two of the Spectra National Motocross championship will see rider Raz Ben Zeev seeking to maintain his dominance after he claimed first prize in MX 50 which had nine entries, the biggest class in the first round of the national championships which were held on the Copperbelt last month.
The championship in Lusaka presents Luyzibo Mbozi and Lohendrick Marechal a chance to challenge Zeev after coming close with a second and third place finish last month.
Winner of the Kitwe event in the MX 65, Kyle Collet will hope to put up another determined fight when he faces Ethan van Blerk and Dan Ben Zeev who had given him stiff competition during last month’s championship.
In the MX 85 category, Lucas Collet and Clayton Shiel are expected to renew their rivalry while Devin Vorster who dominated the MX 125 last month will take on Caitlin Parkes and Mathew Pinetown who finished second and third respectively and will be hoping to redeem themselves in Lusaka.
In the MX Ladies category, after claiming first position at the Kitwe championship, Caitlin Parkes will aim to maintain her dominance over Teagan Becks.
A lot of excitement is also expected in the MX 1 and MX 2 category where Rory Donalson will hope to defend his impressive run in Kitwe where he beat Jayden Hughes and Misheck Mchenga for the top prize.
