WASAKILE MP PROMOTES SKILLS TRAINING TO SECURE JOBS FOR YOUTHS

- By ROGERS KALERO

SKILLS training will help to secure most of the jobs for Zambians and help address the concerns that foreigners were taking up jobs which can be done by Zambians, thereby depriving local people of employment opportunities,’’ Wusakile Member of Parliament (MP) Pavyuma Kalobo has said

Mr Kalobo said Zambia’s economy has experienced a significant development in the mining and construction sectors, and so, it was important that local people, in particular, youths acquired skills in Heavy Equipment like operating a Front End Loader, Dump Truck and other heavy equipment

Mr Kalobo was speaking at the Wusakile Constituency National Assembly Office at a send-off ceremony of 91 youths from various parts of the constituency who will undergo training in Heavy Equipment at Nirvana Business Solutions in Mufulira

He said the 91 youths were going out to train in Heavy Equipment under the skills training programme of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which the beneficiaries must put to good use so that they become well equipped

“You are going out to acquire skills because government, through CDF had spent money for you, hence am urging you to properly utilise this opportunity. Those who are not ready must clearly state that you are not ready so that we replace you.”

“I can tell you that skills acquisition is important because, if most of Zambians acquire skills, particularly youths, we will be securing jobs for local people. Those jobs which are being given to foreigners, but can be done by Zambians, will now be given to Zambians’’ Mr Kalobo said

Mr Kalobo advised the 91 youths who were going out to train in Heavy Equipment to be disciplined and hardworking, warning that whoever will be found to be indiscipline will be ejected from school

“I am a disciplinarian. If I hear that you are involved in any form of indiscipline conduct, I will send you transport money so that you come back. I expect you to be committed, discipline and hard working

“Government is spending money so that you acquire skills and so we expect you to reciprocate by concentrating on your courses. Wusakile constituency has been known to be unruly, but it is slowly changing for the better. Those we sent earlier to train in various skills have been disciplined and performed exceptionally well,’’ Kalobo said

And Nirvana Business Solutions Training Manager David Chalwe said his college provides quality training and was ready to help the 91 youths acquire relevant knowledge in operating heavy equipment

Mr Chalwe also said the college has rules and regulations which the 91 youths from Wusakile constituency must follow for their benefit and that of the college
