Zambia needs regeneration

- Dear Editor, JAY BOND, Lusaka.

FOR anything to thrive whether at individual or government level, it will need a sound plan.

Such a blueprint requires commitment to ensure success on the affected parties. It is for this reason that Zambia now truly needs a rebirth plan for a service-based economy, clean and efficient government with its citizens enjoying a quality life.

This regeneration plan should also ensure that public transport is smooth and all Zambians are highly skilled to better their living standards.

Apart from that, I would also urge our new dawn administration to come up with a more nuanced, realistic perspective because Zambia has to prosper.

At macro level, I think hazy intentions to invest in Zambia must be turned into real commitments and action devoid of promissory notes.

Zambia needs a clear and palpable urgency to invite serious investors to turn a significant point in Lusaka’s economic ascendancy. Sadly, we are seeing little of such efforts in Zambia as the promised fruits of 2021 elections continue to elude Zambians who are now totally heartsick.

And perhaps what is more depressing is the heavy silence from the UPND top leadership as if all is well.

The UPND government is behaving like that Ostrich which buries its head in the sand to presume everything outside its head is fine.

This is exactly how administrations run into complete depletion of energy or strength to govern to people’s expectations.

I am afraid if the current state of affairs is not checked soon, Zambia will become a banana republic much to the chagrin of the people.
