Thirty-five man Angolan delegation in Mongu for cooperation talks
THE Zambian government has reiterated its commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations with Angola in order to foster economic development and infrastructure in both countries.
Western Province Minister, Kapelwa Mbangweta said this when he received a 35 man delegation from Angola being led by Moxico (Moshiko) Province Governor, Dr. Enersto Muangala in Mongu ahead of a three days Regional cooperation and Cultural Exchange Forum visit between the two SADC countries.
Addressing the media, Mr. Mbangweta explained that the bilateral relations between the two countries have been strengthened due to the deliberate policies government has put in place in order for mutual benefit and interaction.
He noted that the numerous developmental programmes such as the improvement of sectors such as health, education, agriculture, security and economic development will be improved after the regional exchange forum.
ZANIS reports that Mr Mbangweta said the exchange visits by President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia and his Angolan counterpart President Joào Lorenzo in January this year that yielded the signing of Memorandum of Understanding for the development of various sectors is a step in the right direction.
And Governor Muangala said the visit to Western Province is to establish a framework aimed at enhancing regional cooperation between the two provinces in sectors of education, livestock and fisheries, agriculture, security, political, health, culture as well as economic sectors.
Dr Muangala pointed out that his country is currently in need of improved education and health services through seeking professional experts in the named sectors.
Governor Muangala expressed gratitude at the effort that the Zambian government made in ensuring that Angola attained independence.
Dr Muangala expressed hope that the three day interaction will yield more positive and intended results for both countries.
During the forum various discussions are expected to be held and an MOU will be signed to seal the bilateral agreements.
