PF still strong, says UPND

- By NATION REPORTER

THE Patriotic Front (PF) is still a very strong opposition political party with a lot of financial resources and claims by the former ruling party that it cannot manage its affairs are meant to blindfold Zambians from reality, the UPND has said.

Mr Crawford Mukando, the UPND member believes that the PF is still a formidable political organization and that the UPND should not relax in ensuring that the former ruling party is kept at bay in the democratic power struggle.

Mr Mukando says assertions by Leader of the opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile that the former ruling party lacked financial resources and could therefore not manage to hold its elective congress were not true because according to him the former ruling party was financially sound and liquid.

Mr Mukando, the UPND aspiring parliamentary candidate for Lusaka Central said PF was still a very strong opposition political party with a lot of financial resources and claims that they were failing to run and manage their affairs were just a ploy to ambush the UPND in 2026.

He said the UPND under President Hakainde Hichilema managed to survive in opposition for 20 years and that it was his belief that the PF in its current state could equally be in the opposition for decades because it was not a poor political organization.

“I personally do not agree with Mr Mundubile when he says they have been running the party from their private pockets to mobilise, organise and run the affairs of PF since losing power in August 2021. It is a black lie meant to blindfold and deceive the masses and especially the new dawn government” Mr Mukando said.

He said UPND should know that it was dealing with a very cunning and shrewd opposition political party and should not fall prey to their tricks of being financially vulnerable.

He said the danger with PF was that, it was a former ruling party, which was in opposition but with a lot of money to influence anything, including vote buying and sabotaging government and economic activities.
