Tithes not for Pastors

- JAY BOND.

Dear Editor, FIRST, I would like to sincerely salute world known Evangelist Benny Hinn for coming out in the open to apologise to the people for stealing their money through unbiblical payment of tithes to him.

That is how it should be because in Deuteronomy 14: 22-26, it is clear that tithes are not supposed to be pocketed by pastors or any church leader.

Under this Chapter's sub-headline " The Law of the Tithe" the Bible clearly declares that the one paying tithe is supposed to enjoy it in the presence of the

Lord at the place where He is worshipped. The pastors know this just too well but twist this biblical teaching to enrich themselves and you know them. It is also for the same explanation that while Africa has poorest churches, its pastors are 'miraculously' the richest in the world through the abuse of tithes.

Let our African pastors deny this because the Almighty God is watching them as they continue to ignore Deuteronomy 14:2226.

I therefore wish to appeal especially to women who are easier to dupe to carefully read the above Bible chapter and verses. They should stop being threatened over tithes and avoid shouting empty "I receive" when their hands remain empty save for the pastor whose pockets are filled and bursting with tithe.

I still do not understand why our so-called men and women of God should cheat their followers in an ungodly manner without an iota of shame. They should follow Dr Hinn's manner of admitting sin if they have any plans of knocking at Heaven's door. This craving for tithes, I think is daylight robbery by our church leaders whom God has already judged.

It is not correct that if one fails to honour tithe obligation they will miss heaven because there is no such a thing in the Bible. Well done Benny Hinn and I am sure God has already forgiven you. In Jesus name, I will remain committed to Deuteronomy 14:22-26. Amen.
