…as Forest Rangers, Muza FC lock horns in ABSA Cup final

- By MICHAEL MIYOBA

AFTER tumbling twice against FC Muza in the FAZ Super League, Ndola giants Forest Rangers will today seek revenge when they face the Mazabuka-based outfit in today’s ABSA Cup final which promises sparks at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.

Forest qualified to their first ever ABSA Cup final after an impressive performance that saw them come from a goal down to beat Power Dynamos 2-1 at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe last month.

However, since beating Power Dynamos on April 8, Forest have struggled with two defeats, two draws and one win in their last five games which dashed their hopes of securing a top-two finish.

Today’s game against the young “Giant Killers” presents another tough test for the Ian Bakala-drilled Forest who were stunned 1-0 by Muza in both the home and away fixtures played in the Super League.

Bakala, who described his charges ready for today’s final is not worried about their poor statistics as he believes that his charges are extra motivated to win their first ABSA Cup title.

For Muza assistant coach Cosmas Mujika, today’s final is crucial for the “Elegant Dynamites” who are seeking to write their own history as they appear in their maiden ABSA Cup final.

“The expectations are high. We want to win the ABSA Cup because it has been our priority since week one. Playing the ABSA Cup and winning it has been our priority and being in the final our objective remains the same. We want to win it,” Mujika said.

Forest will have to come up with a perfect plan to stop the lethal Andre Phiri who inspired Muza to four consecutive wins in the last four Super League fixture.

Winning the ABSA Cup would be extra motivating for the Elegant Dynamites who are set to represent Zambia in the CAF Confederations Cup after securing a top-two finish in the league.
