Kamfinsa MP to install Borehole in Zamtan ward

- By ROGERS KALERO

Mr Kang’ombe said the two projects which were being funded by Constituency Development Fund (CDF), have been necessitated by the concerns of the people who complained about erratic water supply and the long distance the bereaved families travel from Zamtan to Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) to deposit the bodies of their deceased relatives.

Mr Kang’ombe said during a community meeting at Zamtan Clinic grounds on Monday that he had a meeting with Nkana Water and Supply and Sanitation Company (NWSSC) where we discussed that while they waited for the water utility company to put up pipes, they should install an Industrial Borehole to alleviate water problems in the area.

He said, apart from the two projects, the fund has other components like loans, grants, skills training and other forms of empowerment which if put to good use, can benefit many people.

He said the CDF was introduced in 1996 and from that time it has been increased by successive governments with the aim of improving people’s lives, therefore, those who are beneficiaries of the funds must put it to good use.

“The other issue is the issue of the mortuary. Bereaved families travel long distances from Zamtan to Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) to deposit the bodies of their deceased relatives. So, I believe that once the mortuary is constructed, it will reduce the distance because bereaved families will deposit the bodies of their bereaved families at Zamtan Clinic mortuary and then when it was time to bury, they will bury from here,’’ Mr Kang’ombe said.

And in response, the residents like Josephine Banda, Rosemary Chanda and Sylvester Tembo welcomed the news from their MP and urged him to remain focused and ignore critics who were bent on frustrating him.

Ms Banda, however reminded Mr Kang’ombe to consider putting up a wall fence around the mortuary to avoid people with ill motives from vandalising the infrastructure for their own interest.

Two weeks ago, Mr Kang’ombe toured Ndeke Village, Amis, old and New Ndeke and Presidential areas to check on the erratic water problems where thousands of residents have been experiencing persistent water problems.

Mr Kang’ombe said thousands of residents of Ndeke Village, Amis, old and New Ndeke and Presidential areas have lived with persistent erratic water supply for many years despite being promised by Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Company (NWSSC) that the water problems will be addressed.

Mr Kang’ombe cautioned NWSSC to quickly address the water problems in the named areas or else residents will get fed up of their explanations and consequently rise against the water utility company.
