- ZANIS

SOLWEZI District Health Director, Buumba Bubala has reiterated government’s commitment towards provision of quality maternal and child health care services.

Dr Bubala said the health sector remains a key priority on its developmental agenda and as such remains committed to providing quality health services aimed at reducing maternal mortality cases.

She said maternity annexes have been constructed using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in an effort to attain universal health coverage and promote continuum of care.

This came to light when Ministry of Information and Media Director spokesperson Henry Kapata inspected the construction of maternity annexes in the district.

‘‘The government has continued to strive hard to ensure equitable access to affordable and cost-effective health care services as close to the families as possible. The construction of the maternity wings will significantly improve maternal health services thereby reducing maternal mortalities’’, Dr Bubala said.

Solwezi Municipal Council Director Housing, Lupinda Mwala revealed that the construction of the maternity annex at Mushitala and Kakombe health facilities are complete awaiting installation of the necessary medical equipment befitting a maternity ward before commissioning.

He added that other health posts are currently under construction in areas such as Kandakanda, Sandang’ombe, Kapijimpanga and Kifubwa wards among others.

Information and Media Director spokesperson Henry Kapata said adequate Infrastructure in the health sector contributes to the provision of quality health care services delivery.

He added that the increment in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to 30.6 million is a testament of how the government attaches great importance to improving health infrastructure.
